What should your HR policies include? Let’s look at three essential HR policies that will be useful for your business:
Bullying, Harassment and Discrimination Policy
These HR policies prohibit any type of discrimination, bullying or harassment from taking place in the workplace. In order to minimise the risk, the business must show they have taken all reasonable steps to prevent bullying, harassment or discrimination from occurring. This is impossible to do if you don’t have a clear, transparent and comprehensive policy in writing.
Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy
These HR policies tell employees what is expected of them as they get out onto the road. Whether they are driving a branded work vehicle, company lease car or their own personal vehicle, while they are driving for work purposes, the vehicle becomes their place of work. This means that their behaviour, conduct and standards should be the same as being at the company’s premises. Procedures should be in place for accidents, breakdowns and other emergency situations.
Working from Home (WFH) Policy
This policy has come to light due to the Covid-19 pandemic which meant that many employees started working from home or increased their usual time spent working at home. Working from Home (WFH) has become the new norm for many businesses, and with a good number of employees now working from home at least a few hours per day, there needs to be clear and transparent procedures to managing employees and their performance. The WFH policy needs to capture how an employee works, where an employee works and when an employee works.

How do you create an organisation where talented employees want to stay and future talent wants to join, well, you make sure as an organisation you increase the HR Brand Selling (HRBS) of your organisation.
